On December 16th, the River Corridor Foundation presented John Rabchuk with the 2020 Golden Turtle award for his lifetime contribution to the City of St. Charles. Mayor Regina and 5 Aldermen were also present to join in recognizing John.  Below is a summary of the contributions John has made to our city over the years.

John Rabchuk and his wife Cheryl of 48 years have been residents of St. Charles since1976. Professionally, John was the principal of the Caddis Group LLC which provides management and financial services for construction material providers.
Throughout the years, John has been very active on many local civic organizations. He was a long-time member and President of the St. Charles Kiwanis, the St. Charles Strategic Planning Task Force, and on the Downtown Partnership Board of Directors. He was Chairman of the St. Charles Mental Health Board and the First Streetscape Design Committee.  John was also Vice Chairman of the 2013 St. Charles Comprehensive Plan Task Force. In 2013, John was a candidate in mayoral election.

John has been on the Board of Directors of the River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles for over a decade. He has served as President and Treasurer, and has been the most vocal proponent of the Active River Project which would provide greater recreational and economic utilization of the Fox River. John has spearheaded many of the Foundation's projects to beautify and improve the banks of the Fox River as it winds through St. Charles.  The Bob Leonard Walkway 2011 - 2013, work with the Pottawatomie Garden Club for the stewardship of the plantings for the walkway - 2013, the But if I Could Fly statue dedication, park benches and planter installation 2014 - 2016, are all fine examples of his project involvement.  He has worked tirelessly on securing grants and on fundraising activities to support these projects. John has chaired Rhythm on the River 2013 – 2018, The Heart of the Fox 2017 – present, and conceived of and chaired Project Daffodil 2020.  No one is more deserving than John to receive the 2020 Golden Turtle Award.
