Bob Leonard 5K River Run/Walk and Colonial Cafe Kids Turtle Hurdle Obstacle Course

Starting Line

This event is held annually in downtown St. Charles and acts as the foundation’s main fundraising event. Help the River Corridor attain it’s goal by participating in this event either by running, walking, making a private donation or sponsoring the event.

2013 Bob Leonard 5K River Run & Walk

Enjoy scenic views of the Fox River in downtown St. Charles during the Bob Leonard 5K Run and Walk-A-Thon Saturday, August 10, 2013. The event begins and ends in Pottawatomie Park, 8 North Avenue, St. Charles, IL. For the $25 entry fee, each person will receive a technical-weave performance T-shirt. For a minimum donation of $50, each will receive a performance T-shirt, River Corridor Foundation anti-microbial fitness towel and entry into the prize drawing. All runners and walkers are invited to stay for the grand prize drawing, refreshments and musical entertainment immediately following the walk at the Grand Pavilion in Pottawatomie Park. 

5K Challenge Run Details

Beginning and finishing in Pottawatomie Park, the 5K Challenge crosses the Fox River before heading north into the hills of Timber Trails Park. The course is USATF certified and the run will be chip timed. The 5K Run begins at 8 a.m. with sign in starting at 7 a.m.

Medals will be given in male and female categories to the top three finishers for the following age ranges: 12-19, 20–29, 30–39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Additional prizes will be awarded to 1st Place finishers and to Best Overall Time winners. The medal ceremony will be held at Pottawatomie Park.

Gather the family and take a walk along the Fox River through downtown St. Charles. The 2.7 mile journey also begins and ends in Pottawatomie Park with a turnaround point in Mount St. Mary Park. This route is pet and stroller friendly. The Walk-A-Thon begins at 8:05 a.m. with sign in starting at 7:30 a.m.

Walkers are encouraged to raise pledges for this event. A prize will be awarded to the walker who contributes the greatest amount of pledges.

Colonial Cafe Kids' Turtle Hurdle Obstacle Course Details

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Boys and Girls from ages 4-11 will be challenged with five different obstacles on a course that takes them over, under, around, and through various stunts while sprinting back as fast as they can! Supervised stations with games keep the children busy while they await their turn in the timed trials. Sign -in starts at 8:45 a.m., Trial Practice Runs start at 9:30 a.m. and Timed Trials start at 10:30 a.m. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize awards for each age category will be given at the Party at the Pavilion immediately following. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Boy & Girl winner in each of the following age groups; 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, and 10-11.
